Windsurf starts MCP from JSON the same way Cursor does: usually command and args. The file path differs; the snippet often ports.
Open Windsurf MCP settings, or edit its mcp.json. Paste an install snippet from an MCP detail page here. Use a lowercase name. Do not wipe servers you already have.
Replace sample paths and secrets. Only allow directories you intend. Save and check Cascade shows connected. GUI apps often miss Node on PATH; use an absolute path if needed.
Verify with one filesystem or fetch server on a read-only call before adding databases or cloud. If it stays disconnected, use the debug guide — do not reinstall the editor first.
